Key Points at a Glance – Lindsey Graham Survives SC Primary

Two big moves. One Sunday morning. Lindsey Graham has had busier days in Washington, but rarely ones quite this consequential.

Graham, who said he spent four and a half hours with the president on Friday, outlined the alternative to peace plainly: “The United States will control the Strait of Hormuz, we’ll charge a fee for all those who go through, and we’re going to expand the Abraham Accords in calendar year 2026.”

His Warning About Iran in Plain English

Graham suggested that if the deal fails, Trump “is going to take the Strait of Hormuz over by force.” He added: “If Iran contests control of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States, we will obliterate them.”

Graham also predicted Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham Accords would be “the biggest change in 5,000 years in the Mideast” and said it is achievable in 2026 if the Iran deal holds.

The South Carolina Primary Win That Set Up His Platform

Graham faced multiple primary challengers on June 9, but the biggest threat came from self-funding businessman Mark Lynch, who lent his campaign $5 million. Graham’s campaign spent more than $13 million on ads as he battled for the GOP nod, with Trump’s endorsement proving decisive.

The DNI Push Nobody Expected

Beyond Iran, Graham on Sunday asked Trump to move forward immediately with Jay Clayton’s Director of National Intelligence nomination, saying the current situation with acting DNI Bill Pulte, a housing regulator with no intelligence background, created unnecessary instability inside America’s spy agencies at the worst possible moment.

Graham now heads toward his November 3 general election against Democratic pediatrician Dr. Annie Andrews, who already has money on the air slamming him as a “warmonger.” His Sunday Face the Nation appearance gave her campaign fresh ammunition. He gave it willingly. That is vintage Lindsey Graham.
