Watson said: “Our Constitution binds us all together as Americans. Like countless veterans before me, military members serving now, I’ve devoted my life in service to our Democratic Republic. Always doing my best to honor my oath and protect America against foreign threats. But the greatest threat to our Democratic Republic is not a foreign one.”
Watson added that “when the President of the United States orders military action against foreign countries absent an emergency scenario where American interests are under imminent dire threat, as was done with Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran, that’s an unconstitutional usurpation of Congress’s authority and a violation of the War Powers Clause,” adding that “these violations resulted in the deaths of 13 service members and injuries of hundreds more.”

Watson said he is not a Democrat and knows “next to nothing” about Green’s policy positions, but said Green is “the only member of Congress that has demonstrated the courage and conviction” needed to impeach Trump.
Jessica Denson, the founder of Removal Coalition, said Watson had reached out to them via email and understood the potential consequences of his actions, risking not only his military career and pension, but potential prosecution.
What Happens to Major Jason Watson Next
Air Force Secretary Troy Meink addressed the incident on social media, saying: “I expect every Airman and Guardian to comply with all laws and policies governing personal conduct, political participation, and the wear of the uniform.”
Officials would likely consider whether Watson was on duty or off duty, the fact he was in uniform, whether he identified himself as an Air Force officer, and whether his actions could reasonably be interpreted as representing the military.
Watson signed up to defend the Constitution. On July 2, he argued in uniform that the greatest threat to that document now sits in the White House. The Air Force investigation will decide what that decision costs him.
